Verb Wellington Poetry

Verb Wellington runs a writers festival in Wellington each year called Verb Festival to help nurture Aotearoa writers across genre, platform and experience. For 2019, their focus is on writing in the digital space in order to - acknowledge and engage with online communities of writers - broaden their audience with homegrown digital content, and - generate paid opportunities for local writers to connect with readers through a digital format.

The Matatuhi Foundation helped to fund the following 3 digital projects 1) An online writing challenge, with poets Kani Te Manakura and Nida Fiazi, convened over social media. 2) One headline event involving Ten writers (across genre) creating a five-minute piece on the theme of 'the essential struggle' to being presented live and/or recorded as a podcast. 3) The development of a 'House Poetry' Playlist by NZ poets, and 'further listening' short episodes to complement live events.
