Growing young Māori storytellers

Toitoi has been publishing work from young New Zealand creatives (ages 5-13) since 2015 and from writers in te reo Māori since 2017.

With the help of the Mātātuhi Foundation, we will work with our Ētita Reo Māori to increase the number of submissions from young Māori creatives in 2021.

By seeking out and encouraging Māori writers when they are young, we will be helping to grow the next generation of exciting indigenous New Zealand storytellers.
