Celebrating Māori writers - past, present, and future.

Kupu Ngā Ringa Tuhituhi is a large-scale literary festival celebrating Māori writers from the past, present and future.

The carefully curated programme includes celebrations of early Māori writers such as Te Rangikāheke, Makereti Papakura, and Te Kōkau Himiona Te Pikikōtuku, as well as an evening for Mōteatea, a panel of our favourite fiction writers, academics and research panels, and two publishing workshops over the weekend. This festival can be attended by everyone - readers, established writers, upcoming writers, book lovers, young people, and the wider community.

For those who are unable to attend in person, KUPU is intended to be accessible from home through live and delayed webcasts as well as podcasts, interviews, and other online features, to reach a wider audience both nationally and internationally, as well as the younger generation.
