Ockham NZ Best First Book Awards

The Ockham New Zealand Book Awards promote excellence in, and provide recognition for, the best books published each year in New Zealand. Matatuhi Foundation is proud to support the Best First Book Awards category for 2023.

The Best First Book Awards category consists of four individual prizes, each with a separate name that honours a prominent New Zealand writer, namely: The Hubert Church Prize for Fiction, The Jessie Mackay Prize for Poetry, The Judith Binney Prize for Illustrated Non-Fiction, and The E H McCormick Prize for General Non-Fiction.

The Best First Book Awards will be presented on 17 May 2023.
